ABOUT MEProducer, Bid Writer & Dance FacilitatorPassionate about developing a more inclusive, accessible, and people-focused cultural sector that prioritises care, creativity, community and wellbeing.
I am a Freelance Producer, Bid Writer and Dance Facilitator based in the West Midlands. I work primarily in participation settings with a focus on community, disability, health and wellbeing. I am focused on developing talent, creating accessible opportunities, and utilising written communication to promote meaningful and exciting projects in the arts sector.
Producing: I started my producing career as an Events and Engagement Co-ordinator at The University of Birmingham's Students' Union before moving firmly into the arts as Lichfield Festival’s Operations Manager. In 2022, I went freelance and have produced/project managed for: Anjali, National Youth Ballet, People Dancing (Live Well and Dance with Parkinson’s) as well as self-producing Lichfield Screendance Festival and ‘Lichfield Dances’. In 2024, I delivered 8 inclusive youth and community projects and my first international partnership with an inclusive dance company in Germany. Bid writing: I specialise in working with small-mid size dance and arts organisations, particularly charities and Community Interest Companies (CICs), as well as individuals. I have experience with Arts Council England, Sport England and National Lottery Funding as well as other trusts, grants and crowdfunding. Within this work I often support strategic planning and development too. In 2023-24, I secured £500k+ for organisations and individuals across 20 projects. Alongside writing bids, I also offer bid reviews and editing for those who want to write applications themselves but want a bit of support making sure they're on the right track. Dance Facilitation: I started work as a community dance artist in 2020, delivering work locally and training on Create’s Nurturing Talent Programme. In 2022, I was part of the Critical Mass Team for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Since 2023, I have focused my practice on co-leading inclusive dance group ‘That! Dance’. In 2024, I achieved my Level 4 Makaton qualification and delivered eight performance and film projects, alongside eight inclusive youth and community projects, including my first international partnership. Anything else? For the past 4 years I have worked closely with Ascendance - a Dance with Parkinson's charity based in Leeds - supporting organisational development and fundraising. I was chosen as an MGC Futures Bursary Artist in 2021, was part of the Jermyn Theatre x Masterclass Mentoring Scheme in 2021 and took part in New Adventure’s Overture Scheme in 2021/22. I am also a proud trustee of Lichfield Garrick Theatre and RicNic Theatre. Keep up to date by following me on Instagram (@nataliehaslam20) or get in touch via email [email protected]. |
